are they with us or against us
While the official motto of the NYPD is to "Protect and Serve", somehow I don't get that feeling at all. There's been no outright experience that would lead to my unease, but should citizens feel safe and secure — should we have affinity for the police force? They're on our side, right? But I don't know anyone who feels that way, especially about NYPD. In fact, I have a slight discomfort when they're around – it's like, all right, when are you going to fuck me over and poke my spleen with that stick you're twirling around? g.a.y. Maybe it's the stories of cop abuse on the news – or maybe it's the attitude you run into whenever those bad boys feel the need to exert their fratty testosterone through some inane guttural grunt, overcompensating for their small penises with some sort of Darwinian moral authority of might makes every sort of inexplicable right.
Maybe it's their need to announce their authority at each and every moment – yes you are badass – and yes, we should bow before your 30 IQ because you put yourself in the line of fire every day: when you know, you pull drivers over to satisfy your monthly quotas or when you stand around and give tourists a hard time cause they walk through the wrong subway entrance. Or when you handcuff little kids and knock down biclysts or assume the worst and ask questions later.
What is it about cops that creates this sense of corruption, of power abuse and Neanderthal logic? They're designed to protect the innocent, right? So if I'm innocent, how come I don't feel protected? In fact, i feel that if there's a crime, it's gonna happen anyways, and then the cops will come afterwards to shuffle some paper.
they're good for directions...usually.
