The design is meh; it’s good enough but that’s not going to cut it in this space.  I may be wrong on this one (see Tripadvisor) but I think that’s what the guys at Gogobot are trying to do.

So for me,  the venerable guidebook – digitized – may still offer the best way to explore unfamiliar cities.

I guess this was before the riots but I grabbed my camera once the Giants sealed the 9th inning over the Rangers and headed down to The Mission where folks started to gather. It was pretty awesome

Writing good directions is not unlike poetry: an exercise in awareness, requiring an eye for detail and succinct but evocative language

When are we, as users, going to start self-curating ourselves?  Because these products aren’t going to do it.  Facebook and Twitter and Google and Groupon aren’t going to build tools that will allow you to slow down...

My gripe with movies and books like these is that it gives our entitled selves a false sense of security.  Exploring the world in these constructs mean visiting the tourist trails and ticking off checklists.
