I'm gonna take advantage of the weather and head out of the city next week, north to Lao Cai and Sapa and the mountains, regions that other travelers have noted the most beautiful in Vietnam.

Of course, as an Asian guy, I'm tempted to say 'grow some balls' and dare to be different to all these Asian guys who complain about their station in society. But I feel a little sorry for them too, because after centuries of Western stereotypes, we are in a pretty bad position.

Oprah rocks.  With her Angel Lane project to build homes for the displaced by Katrina in Houston, Texas, she has done more publicly than the US govt. ever did.

Hanoi rains interminably.  Seems like the sky ripped open and the sea above has come pouring down for the last week.

Now, you may not be able to pick Johnny out of an Asian crowd – and I couldn't either until I remembered that I saw this horrendous movie with my Dad before I left for Asia.
