Fried Rice

Now that I've eaten through most of yuppienomad's cooking, it's time for me to fall back on feeding myself. So here's my recipe for... dum dum DUM!

Fried Rice!  (copied in part from K-Dawg) Woa PAAA!

(It's not the dish itself, it's how ya make it.)

Serves 4

Ingredients:

  • 1 big bowl of rice (3 cups)
  • 1/2 cup sesame oil
  • tbsp salt
  • generous white pepper
  • 1 egg
  • 2 links of Chinese sausage, chopped.  Substitute tofu for a vegetarian dish.
  • chopped green onions
  • 1 cup assorted vegetables: peas, carrots & corn
  • 1/4 cup-ish of soy sauce

Directions:

  1. Cook the rice (in a rice cooker).
  2. Mix in sesame oil, salt, pepper, and egg thoroughly (it's fun when you make a mess using your hands).
  3. Let it sit for 10 minutes, be sure to not let the rice clump together
  4. Drop in a hot hot wok gradually - stir vigorously.
  5. Throw in the Chinese sausage, cook until the fat sweats off.
  6. Dump in the veggies -- continue stirring and tossing!
  7. Add in soy sauce to taste (some like to mix this in before wokking)
  8. At the very last minute, garnish with green onions.

I like mine a little burnt, but there ya go.  If you have all the ingredients, it should take less than 20 minutes to make (not counting the rice cooking time).
