I love my new job ^. I think it's the best job in the world. Ok. Being Indiana Jones would be the best evar, but this pretty darn close. I love it because because after seven years of circuitous routes through deserts, I've reached a place that combines everything I enjoy doing.
- I think I'm good at it
- I use it everyday
- It's creative
- It's pragmatic
- It's fun
- It deals with people. Lots of people.
- It's art. And design. And numbers.
- I'm still learning a lot.
- It's crazy. And distracting.
- It can change the world. And how people think.
- There are awesome and intelligent and creative and innovative people working here.
I don't even know how I got to this point. It's seems weird, but all the pit stops I've made – a year here, three months there – contributed to my skills. And this is the one job where I can interview and the crazy nature of my work experiences benefited me. Any other place and they'll look for a shape that will fit some form. This is the one place that says, "Go ahead, we want you to create something totally different!"
Ok, so it may be premature but heck, I've seen enough over the past months to realize what a great fit it is. I feel fortunate to find something that matches so well, and I hope I can sustain the energy.
I feel like Tom Hanks in Big. Yes - we do sit around a room and come up with ideas!
Loved your last 2 posts, Josh. I'm glad you're loving what you do!
