The public transportation in San Francisco operates when it wants to and no one seems to mind much. It's a city rich in temperate climates and moods. I sat on the MUNI yesterday for an hour from SOMA to Noe Valley - a bike ride that would have taken twenty minutes. It's a city where contentment is a badge of honor and not of shame, unlike New York.
It's cold at night in Alamo Square, and I've come down with a head cold from sleeping in a t-shirt only. I've forgotten how the temps drops so much here. I couldn't bring myself to meet up with Daniel and Fiona and Zack at the Burritt Lounge – opted for a wait and a seat at the sushi bar to see Ao work his magic instead. I think he was genuinely happy to see me. I miss the feeling of having a neighborhood spot to go to where they know your name. The waitress – I still don't know her name – asked when we were coming back. Hopefully soon.
Dragged myself back to Shanan's place and fell asleep on the couch. Couldn't wake up this morning until Goose put his wet nose oh my chest around 8:30 am. Walked over to Hayes Valley to the Boulangerie for a chicken and arugula sandwich. Felt a bit better walking in the sun. Dropped by Blue Bottle for a cappuccino and the sun went away - felt cold again and the faucets turned on. Dragged myself back to Shanan's place in a daze. I'm hoping that by sitting still and not doing much, I can get some energy back to move over to Cynthia's place tonight.
There's lots going on this weekend in San Francisco - the Bluegrass Festival, LitQuake, Fleet Show -- but I just want to have some energy and work myself into a stupor writing writing writing and designing the apps.
Feeling better about this not working thing. Onwards.
