Short night

Went out to GC Pub for a couple of beers. Two was enough for me after I totally shanked the 8 ball and scratched -- once again.  A couple of local girls sweating out to the tune of the Black Eye Peas really wasn't my scene for tonight. Just a beer and maybe a smoke coulda dunnit.

Some observations on the way back:

Hoan Kiem Lake is apparently a hotspot for cuddling couples.  I suppose if you live at home with your parents (like many Vietnamese twentysomethings do), you have to take your petting to someplace public -- so why not a place with a great view?

Fishing is an all-day activity, especially in lakes that are famous for its magic turtles.  I suppose it's one way to pass the time with friends.

Prostitutes in Vietnam aren't all that attractive. Male or female.

Now I know why a lot of writers, like Kerouac and Kant, like to take long strolls. It definitely stretches the leg after being chair-bound in your thoughts all day.

No McDonalds, but Vietnam sure has some tasty all-night food choices. Mmmmmm.. thit nuong and steaming pho.
