Third Party
By my count, the current US government can walk on water. How else can you explain the lack of accountability for:
- No WMDs.
- Sectarian clashes bubbling to civil war in Iraq.
- Increasing poverty gap.
- Tom DeLay's corruption in Texas and in Washington, D.C.
- Jack Abramanoff's influence of corruption on the Hill.
- Plame affair.
- NSA wiretapping.
- Abu Ghraib.
- Guantanamo.
- Dubai - port security contract.
- Shooting your 70 year old friend in the freakin' face.
Meanwhile, the country is hemorrhaging money. We are throwing away future generations' ability to produce by increasing military budget for the clusterfuck that is Iraq and Afghanistan AND lowering taxes in order to 'stimulate the economy' at the expense of the lower income bracket at the same time. Bin Laden promises more attacks – a clear indication of our successful efforts to 'find evil whereever it is and triumph'. Afghanistan is deteriorating, its drug traffic is up, instability up, violence up. Iraq has deteriorated into a black hole of local militancy and international incompetence. N. Korea is increasingly crazy. Iran is flaunting its nuclear program. China is flexing its economic and military muscle in Tibet, in central Asia, in the Taiwan strait and SE Asia – not to mention energy transactions in S. America and the Middle East.
Where is the American public? Where is the outrage? Are we like sheep, cowering in the shed while wolves tear the farm apart? Is K-fed's new album, Paris Hilton newest nipple slip, or Donald's and Martha's latest public feud more important?
Are we not shamed as America is disgraced? And Democrats – grow a pair and step up.
But what the hell can I say – I've already moved out of the country.
What does it take, if anything, for a third party to succeed in the States?
Indeed - and did you see the latest news about Bush's plan to sell 300,000 acres of national forest land? http://www.mindfully.org/Reform/2006/Bush-Land-Sales10feb06.htm
How short-sighted can one be?

Interesting. I'll have to read up on it. Unfortunately, short-sightedness is a trait I'm all too familiar with.
