Two cities

Conversations overheard absurd werd:

Hipster enclave: a coffeeshop in the Village

[A] Like omigod I had dinner with David the other night and like all he talked about was Elizabeth; I mean, he didn't even know her name two weeks ago and now it's non-stop, honestly.  D'you know he's going to take a year off? I mean, I would not know what to do with all that time!  He's in derivatives or something like that. I never know what's outside of my immediate work. It's all complicated, buying off percentages and commodities and I don't know what.

[B] Ugh. I feel so lonely and lost.

[A] But I hear he's going to give up his two bedroom place, can you believe it? It's like those guys who start Youtube and Facebook. Have you been on? It's like just this idea they had and they however they do it -- I think it's all advertising -- but now they're so rich!!!  Can you just -- I mean, I think it's all luck, really.

Fatty enclave: McDonalds

[C] Can you believe the nerve? A priest!! He called the cops instead of the ambulance. When that boy was needing some help! And I couldn't believe how that cop talked to me! I don't care if you're the.. the top cop in the world! You don't talk to me that way. Can you believe it? A priest! The boy needed serious help and they tell me to get out of the way. Goes to show, you can't trust no one... no one! I hope that priest rots in hell! Good night Joe! Good night Darlene!

[D] The Knicks won!  They're gonna go all the way!  Championship! You hear that, Joe?

[E] No way them boys going anywhere. No way.  How bout that Shaq? He's still goin' strong. And Dallas. I like Dallas. Good team. Strong deep team.

[F] I like the Rockets.

[E] That big Japanese guy? Yeah, he's pretty good.

[A] Twenty-something Asian girl, moderately attractive. Black coat.
[B] Twenty-something Asian girl, not so attractive.  Black coat.
[C] Old crazy woman.
[D] Darlene (apparently). McDonald's cashier on 14th Street.
[E] Joe. McDonald's regular. Avid newspaper reader.
[F] Me.

you ate at mc d's? gross. you must have been desparate. ok ok fine. i guess the hamburger and an ice cream is good every once in a while... and i guess it's acceptable if you were there for a sausage biscuit with egg, but i really don't think you should eat there more than once a year.
