What Do Women Want?

Out of the frying pan and into..

A recent Slate article suggests instability among the ranks of women.  It highlights an interesting study into the happiness quotient of women in the post-feminism society -- what we do know is that feminism has destabilized traditional gender roles, but the question remains, are women happy?  And what sort of woman has better work/life satisfaction: the traditionalist, the feminist or the progressive? And why are some women happier than others, when it comes to male-female equality?

One of the hypotheses:

The sexual revolution tried to free women and men from set-in-stone roles. But the irony turns out to be that having a degree of certainty about what you want (and being in a peer group that feels the same way) is helpful in making people happy.

Not anything new, but one thing is that reality has to catch up with the ideals – and often times, with women, those ideals change a lot.
