(C)offer

Not to go all 'woe is me' but ever since I graduated, I feel like employers have just wanted to suck all my skills out before moving on.  In other words, most places I've been at were too big to care or too small to have time to care.

I recently got a job offer. It was the best one so far. It would have paid me really well (6 figures total comp) and was in an industry that I liked (Internet media).

So why didn't I jump at it?

I don't know.  I suppose my gut feeling (which was affirmed by objective opinions of people I cared about) told me that I didn't want to be at another place where there was a risk that I would be moving on in another 15 months.  Call me old, but I'm ready to really settle into a company.  Call me foolish but I'm ready to love what I do – my job.

And based on my previous experiences, I just want to be at a place where I'm valued.  Not to go all 'woe is me' but ever since I graduated, I feel like employers have just wanted to suck all my skills out before moving on.  In other words, most places I've been at were too big to care or too small to have time to care.

But there are places out there where people are smart AND happy, right? I hope so.
