China Censors Pirates
The Chinese government is so scared of its own shadow that it's censored major portions of Pirates of the Caribbean 3 where Chow-Yun Fat played a pirate lord. "The captain starring Chow is bald, his face heavily scarred, he also wears a long beard and has long nails, images still in line with Hollywood's old tradition of demonizing the Chinese," the magazine said.
Oh no - he's bald! Oh my GAWD the horror! And he has a beard!!!
Well heck -- I think Britain should censor the movie too, considering they showed the Royal Navy in bad light.. not to mention stereotypical depictions of dirty witless bumpkins. And heck -- if you've seen the movies, Arabs, Sikhs and Aerosmith all have claims to cut the movie. Perhaps after all the cuttings, the bloated blockbuster can actually entertain -- who cares about the other characters when you have Keira Knightly swinging from the masts? (Actually, anorexia societies may have legitimate reasons to cut off Knighly's scenes...)
China is funny. It takes itself so seriously that it has the most self-esteem issues out of any major countries in the world.
You know what should be censored? William Hung. This no talent beanie baby has set back Asian-America a decade. Damn you William Hung! Why can't I quit you????
