Finally, Laos!

I am feeling a bit better, however. Just splurged on a nice hotel -- stellar dining, swimming pool, down comforters (!) ... now I just have to find that $5 massage and I'm back to roughing it.

That's it. 18 hours. Kunming, China to Luang Nam Thai, Laos (with a connection in Jinghong).  I'm bused out. Bumpy roads, great scenes.. and one too many stops.

I'm way behind on posting, partly cause there's so much to tell and partly because there's been no real Internet connection for the past weeks.

To get different views and a summary of my travels, check out my travel companions' blogs: YuppieNomad or Blowingbubblesinthewind.  I'll try and catch up on posting now that I've situated myself in Luang Prabang, Laos.. although I can't guarantee it... since I still need to find a way to get money (there are no ATMs in the country and most places don't exchange yuan, only USD), tear myself from trekking in the jungle during monsoon season, and finagle a cheap price on elephant rides, village excursions, and the like.

[Update] I've flickred some food photos, mainly cause I love new ways to satiate my belly and cause folks back home like sofuchung have requested it.  I've also flickred some candid photos that has my mug on them.. but you have to be a Flickr member to see them.  Stellargirl would be proud -- I am pimping Flickr!
